The exams will test your academic skills that match the standards of high school education. It is taken on a computer and covers four topics – language, mathematics, science and social sciences. Step 1: Review the requirements
The person taking the test must be 16 or older when they are sitting for the test. In some states, the age limit is above 18. There are different fee structures and retake policies depending on the state.
Step 2: Prepare for the exam
This is a crucial step for anyone attending the exam. You need to have adequate preparation and must take several practice tests before the exam. You can also get additional material from libraries or even online.
Step 3: Registering for the GED online

Step 4: The test
As long as you have prepared for the exam, you won’t have to be nervous. You are allotted 7.5 hours to complete all the four sections of the exam. You are allowed to attempt as many sections as you want at a time. The language section is known to take the longest time.
Step 5: Access the score
You must have a minimum of 150 in each of the sections. Those who earn more than 170 in a section are given honors. The test scores will be available on the website 3 hours after you have taken the test.
The retest in each state comes at a different cost. There is also a waiting period that is given before you can take the test again.
