If you are someone who is eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, your insurance plans will work together to give you coverage for your hearing aid and services related to your hearing aid. However, you have to note that only Medicare with supplementary plan will have provisions for your hearing device. The original Medicare plan does provide insurance for hearing aid devices. But if you need diagnostic hearing tests, Part B of your Medicare plan will take care of it.
Also, the Medicaid policies for hearing related services differs from state to state. Out of 50 states, only 28 have provisions for hearing aid assistance for Medicaid-eligible people.
For instance, the state of Kansas has one of the friendliest policy. The plan has provisions for audiological testing, ear examinations, and evaluations. Hearing aids, their fitting and replacement with provision for trial rental is covered as well. They also cover services for cochlear implants.
New Hampshire also provides services that are favorable towards providing affordable hearing loss-related services. The set of services is similar to Kansas. In addition, New Hampshire has provisions for follow-ups for verification of hearing aid performance and monitoring of hearing thresholds.
