These sudden spasms of the muscle most commonly occur right before you sleep or after you wake up.It is fascinating to know that these kind of muscle spasms are also known as a Charley Horse.

A Charley Horse feels like a painful spasm, twinge or tightening in the muscles of the leg that are suddenly contracting. It may lead you to feel extremely uncomfortable depending on the duration of the contracting muscles. A severe Charley Horse during the night can lead to a lot of discomfort.

Diphenhydramine and calcium channel blocker may be suggested by your doctor if the pain is extremely severe.
